Front Yard Plant Beds

Soil Amendment: Mushroom compost to be used in planting holes

Mulch: Pine straw or Medium Pine Bark Mulch

Border: Create Natural Border for better mulch retention and easier maintenance.

(1) Sunshine Ligustrum - Ligustrum sinense 'Sunshine'

Evergreen

Blooms: Inconspicuous, if at all

Sunlight: Partial Shade to Full Sun

Water/Soil: Moist, not soggy/well-drained. Water weekly or more often in extreme heat.

Mature Height: 3 to 5'   Mature Spread: 3 to 4'



(2) Crimson Fire Loropetalum - 
Loropetalum chinense 'Crimson Fire' 
One each, either side of Sunshine Ligustrum  

Evergreen

Blooms: Pink Fringes - Heaviest in Spring; Repeating in Fall

Sunlight: Partial Shade to Full Sun

Water/Soil: Moist, not soggy/well-drained. Water weekly or more often in extreme heat.

Mature Height: 3 to 4'   Mature Spread: 3 to 4'

(1) Red Sister Cordyline - Cordyline fruticosa 'Red Sister'

Evergreen

Blooms: Inconspicuous, White to Pinkish White

Sunlight: Partial Shade to Full Sun

Water/Soil: Moist, not soggy/well-drained. Water weekly or more often in extreme heat.

Mature Height: 4 to 5'   Mature Spread: 2 to 3'

(2) Heartbreaker Coleus - 
Coleus 'Heartbreaker'
One each, either side of Red Sister Cordyline

Tender Perennial

Blooms: Favored for their foliage, little to no flowering

Sunlight: Partial Shade to Full Sun

Water/Soil: Moist, not soggy/Well-drained

Mature Height: 18 to 26"   Mature Spread: 12 to 16"


(2) Gay's Delight - Coleus 'Gay's Delight'
One each, outside of Heartbreaker Coleus

Tender Perennial

Blooms: Favored for their foliage, slight purple flower

Sunlight: Shade to Full Sun

Water/Soil: Moist, not soggy/Well-drained

Mature Height: 24 to 36"   Mature Spread: 12 to 16"


(1) Pink Muhly - Muhlenbergia capillaris
Left of steps in teracotta pot (Optional - space available) 

Perennial, Evergreen in Warmer Climates

Blooms: Late Summer to Fall. Foliage retains color in warm winter areas.

Sunlight: Part to Full Sun

Water/Soil: Moist, not soggy/well-drained. Water weekly or more often in extreme heat.

Mature Height: 3' Mature Spread: 3'






Along Right Railing

(1) Variegated Ligustrum - Ligustrum japonicum 'Variegatum'

Evergreen

Blooms: Small white flowers in spring

Sunlight: Partial Shade to Full Sun

Water/Soil: Moist, not soggy/well-drained. Water weekly or more often in extreme heat.

Mature Height: 8'   Mature Spread: 6'

Rear side of column

Note: Will choose a species of green and yellow/ cream variegation.

Herbaceous Perennial

Blooms: Tubular whitish blooms above the plant at varying heights.

Sunlight: Mostly shade to part sun, while some species thrive in full sun.

Water/Soil: Moist, not soggy/well-drained. Water weekly or more often in extreme heat.

Mature Height: .5 to 2'   Mature Spread: Up to 4'
