Crazy Girl is Doing Well, So Well

After
I began working with Crazy Girl about five years ago. I can't always get photos of her like when she first inspired me with her lemon-lime colors.

See https://shootsandmatters.blogspot.com/2017/06/crazy-girl-is-all-grown-up.html.

She's somewhat more mature now and the thing I love about her most is she is a fringe leaf dwarf japanese maple with no drooping habit.

Yes, I somewhat have to maintain her miniature tree-like branch structure, but that's okay. She's only one of some twenty japanese maples I care for on this property. I love them all.

As she has grown I have chosen to keep her vertical growing branches at bay because of her surroundings. There are so many looks you can get from japanese maples when around one long enough. Crazy Girl has more of a formal look now, but if I let her do her own thing and make different pruning cuts she will be back on the wild side.

She now has her own sophisticated place around the others in the back yard. More formal, but at heart, still crazy. She is a chore, but a wonderful one.
