I am that Blade of Grass, in among the others in that beautiful lawn you may have neglected,
But still, reaching out for the sun and the next drink of water.
I am that New Leaf on the branch of this majestic hardwood, you have cared for so well;
Yet, we are aging as I try my best to carry life forward.
I am the Weed Shoot you will regret, but I am doing my best for my kin,
Knowing you will wish I had never come to be.
I am the Healthy and Beautiful Plants in this bed where you chose to place us with one another,
Hoping all would be well. And, it is.
I am that Gorgeous Specimen Tree you planted seventeen years ago and now we are enjoying one another,
Like we never imagined.
I am all those wonderful things and those not-so-much,
But, we wouldn't be having all this time together had you not
Been here, chosen me or allowed for me to do what I do.
Through all the Beauty, the Expectations, the Good and the Bad;
I'm Only Here for You.
