Simplehuman Automated Soap Dispenser |
I love cooking and when I get busy in the kitchen, particularly with raw proteins, it's not difficult to realize I may touch the surface of a manual soap dispenser and the faucet stem or the faucet knob when trying to clean my hands.
Cross contamination doesn't occur simply via utensils, cutting, boards, plates, etc.
If I have to touch these things just to clean my hands and lord knows what else if I don't clean them, then I may be transferring bacteria throughout the kitchen, not only to other foods, but other humans as well, as they touch or use the surfaces I have contacted.
Some of you may already have one of these automated soap dispensers, but I still feel it worth mentioning. There are manufacturers of these other than Simplehuman, but it is the brand I have. Mine is powered by two AA batteries which I replaced with rechargeable lithium batteries (for most everything else, as well) after the original alkaline batteries were exhausted.
The model I have also allows me to adjust the amount of soap dispensed each time.
These are also great if one has greasy or really messy hands and you don't want to have to clean up after, well, cleaning up.
Give it a try!
