Customer Plant Selection Review - PW - October 11, 2019

Basketball Plant Bed

Soil Amendment: Mushroom Compost to be used in Planting Holes.

Mulch: Medium Pine Bark Nuggets

Weed Protection: Landscape Barrier/Weed Blocker

Border: Existing Man-made Border and Grass

Irrigation: Drip-line Tapped off of Existing Irrigation

Note: Area just forward of Japanese Maple to be left vacant for future water feature, statuary or perennials/annuals.

(1) Trompenburg Japanese Maple Acer palmatum 'Trompenburg'
Centerpiece - back roughly 3/4 distance of bed 

Deciduous

Blooms: Inconspicuous; prized for foliage.

Foliage: Deep Burgundy Red in Spring and Summer to Scarlet in Fall

Sunlight: Partial to Full Sun

Water/Soil: Moist, not soggy/well-drained. Water weekly or more often in extreme heat.

Mature Height: 16 to 18'   Mature Spread: 16 to 18'


(2) Vintage Jade Dystilium - Dystilium 'Vintage Jade'
One Each, roughly left and right of Japanese Maple

Evergreen

Blooms: Petite Red Flowers in Winter

Sunlight: Partial to Full Sun

Water/Soil: Moist, not soggy/well-drained. Water weekly or more often in extreme heat.

Mature Height: 3 to 4'   Mature Spread: 4 to 5'


(2) Kaleidoscope Abelia - Abelia x grandiflora 'Kaleidoscope'
One Each, left and right, forward of Dystilium

Evergreen

Foliage: Bright, Golden Yellow Variegation on Medium Green leaves along with Brilliant Red Stems

Blooms: Fragrant White Flowers - Spring through Autumn

Sunlight: Partial to Full Sun

Water/Soil: Moist, not soggy/well-drained. Water weekly or more often in extreme heat.

Mature Height: 2.5 to 2.5'   Mature Spread: 3 to 3.5' 


(2) Purple Pixie® Dwarf Weeping Loropetalum - 
Loropetalum chinense 'Peack' 
One Each, left and right, forward of Kaleidoscope Abelia

Evergreen

Blooms: Pink Fringes - Heaviest in Spring; Repeating Throughout the Year.

Sunlight: Partial to Full Sun

Water/Soil: Moist, not soggy/well-drained. Water weekly or more often in extreme heat.

Mature Height: 1 to 2'   Mature Spread: 4 to 5'
