We are using this post to provide prospects and customers a means to view plants we are recommending or selecting.

This post is not meant for anyone other than the intended viewer, but others may find it interesting or beneficial.

Front Foundation Plant Beds

Soil Amendment: Mushroom compost to be used in planting holes


Mulch: Pine Straw or Pine Bark Nuggets (Recommended)


Border: Establish natural border between mulch and lawn. Follow the existing line of the bed for the most part, providing a trough for mulch retention.

(2) Sunshine Ligustrum - Ligustrum sinense 'Sunshine'

One each, left and right of front porch

Evergreen

Blooms: None - prized for it's awesome foliage

Foliage: Dark yellow to light green
Sunlight: Full to partial sun

Water/Soil: Moist, not soggy/well-drained. Water weekly or more often in extreme heat.

Mature Height: 4 to 5'  Mature Spread: 4 to 5'

Crimson Fire Loropetalum - Loropetalum chinense 'Crimson Fire'

One each, roughly below each window, between existing hollies

Evergreen

Blooms: Pink Fringes - Heaviest in Spring; Repeating in Fall

Sunlight: Partial to Full Sun

Water/Soil: Moist, not soggy/well-drained. Water weekly or more often in extreme heat.

Mature Height: 3 to 4'   Mature Spread: 3 to 4'


(2) Cryptomeria Globosa Nana - Cryptomeria japonica 'Globosa Nana'

One each, adjacent (45 degrees) to the outer porch columns

Evergreen

Blooms: None, prized for foliage

Foliage: Light green to yellow-green

Sunlight: Full Sun to Partial Shade

Water/Soil: Moist, not soggy/well-drained. Water weekly or more often in extreme heat.

Mature Height: 2 to 4'   Mature Spread: 3 to 5'


(8) Blue Cascade Distylium - Distylium 'Blue Cascade'

Forward of aforementioned plants, alternating with Cinnamon Girl Distyliums

Evergreen

Blooms: Small reddish-maroon flowers in Winter

Foliage: Matte blue-green

Sunlight: Full sun to partial shade

Water/Soil: Moist, not soggy/well-drained. Water weekly or more often in extreme heat.

Mature Height: 3 to 4'   Mature Spread: 3 to 4'



(8) Cinnamon Girl Distylium - Distylium 'Cinnamon Girl'

Alternating with Blue Cascade Distyliums

Evergreen

Blooms: Deep red in the Winter

Foliage: Plum-purple to blue-green over the Winter and Spring seasons

Sunlight: Full sun to partial shade

Water/Soil: Moist, not soggy/well-drained. Water weekly or more often in extreme heat.

Mature Height: 2 to 3'   Mature Spread: 3 to 4'

(10) Soft Caress Mahonia - Mahonia, 'Soft Caress'

Forward of and staggered between aforementioned Distyliums with one each outside of row of Distyliums, nearest Iris cluster (see below)

Evergreen

Blooms: Small yellow flowers in Spring and Fall

Foliage: Green to bluish-green

Sunlight: Full sun to partial shade

Water/Soil: Moist, not soggy/well-drained. Water weekly or more often in extreme heat.

Mature Height: 2 to 3'   Mature Spread: 3 to 4'


(2) Pink Muhly - Muhlenbergia capillaris

One each, forward of corner of home among Iris cluster (see below) 

Perennial, Evergreen in Warmer Climates

Blooms: Late Summer to Fall. Foliage retains color in warm winter areas.

Sunlight: Part to Full Sun

Water/Soil: Moist, not soggy/well-drained. Water weekly or more often in extreme heat.

Mature Height: 3' Mature Spread: 3'


Existing Iris (Iris Cluster)

Iris clusters to be formed around most-outer foundation hollies. Excess Irises will be potted for future planting based on the Customer's desire.
