Front Foundation Plant Beds

Soil Amendment: Mushroom compost to be used in planting holes

Mulch: Pine Bark Nuggets

Main Border: Re-establish Natural Border for better mulch retention and easier maintenance.

Blooms: Inconspicuous, prized for foliage

Sunlight: Partial to Full Sun

Water/Soil: Moist, not soggy/well-drained. Water weekly or more often in extreme heat.

Mature Height: 4 to 5'  Mature Spread: 5 to 6'



(2) Sunshine Ligustrum - Ligustrum sinense 'Sunshine'
One each, inside and rear of Japanese Maple (along stoop)

Evergreen

Blooms: Inconspicuous, if at all

Sunlight: Partial to Full Sun

Water/Soil: Moist, not soggy/well-drained. Water weekly or more often in extreme heat.

Mature Height: 3 to 5'   Mature Spread: 3 to 4'

(2) Crimson Fire Loropetalum - Loropetalum chinense 'Crimson Fire'
One each, outside and rear of Japanese Maple 

Evergreen

Blooms: Pink Fringes - Heaviest in Spring; Repeating in Fall

Sunlight: Partial to Full Sun

Water/Soil: Moist, not soggy/well-drained. Water weekly or more often in extreme heat.

Mature Height: 3 to 4'   Mature Spread: 3 to 4'

(2) Pink Muhly - Muhlenbergia capillaris
One each, either side of first step. 

Perennial, Evergreen in Warmer Climates

Blooms: Late Summer to Fall. Foliage retains color in warm winter areas.

Sunlight: Part to Full Sun

Water/Soil: Moist, not soggy/well-drained. Water weekly or more often in extreme heat.

(2) Kaleidoscope Abelia - Abelia x grandiflora 'Kaleidoscope'
One each, outside and forward of Japanese Maple

Evergreen

Foliage: Bright, Golden Yellow Variegation on Medium Green leaves along with Brilliant Red Stems

Blooms: Fragrant White Flowers - Spring through Autumn

Sunlight: Partial to Full Sun

Water/Soil: Moist, not soggy/well-drained. Water weekly or more often in extreme heat.

Mature Height: 2.0 to 2.5'   Mature Spread: 3 to 3.5'

Silver Carpet Lamb's Ear - Stachys byzantina 'Silver Carpet'
Arcing shape, roughly forward of Pink Muhly (roughly 4 x 1.5 feet)

Herbacious Perennial - Evergreen, often in this area

Foliage: Silver-blue/Silver-white, wooly

Blooms: Appreciate for its foliage - rarely blooms

Sunlight: Partial to Full Sun

Water/Soil: Moist, not soggy/well-drained. Water weekly or more often in extreme heat.
